Lucky Chance est une jeune sorci\u00e8re. Surnomm\u00e9e Miss Catastrophe, celle qui n\u2019est pas tr\u00e8s dou\u00e9e en magie, est \u00e9galement \u00e9tudiante au mus\u00e9e surnaturel de la ville. Alors que l\u2019arriv\u00e9e de deux statues repr\u00e9sentant des anges d\u00e9chus cr\u00e9e l\u2019effervescence au mus\u00e9e, ce n\u2019est rien \u00e0 c\u00f4t\u00e9 de ce qui attend Lucky et ses amis. Quelques gouttes de sang de sorci\u00e8re et une incantation plus tard, voici New York menac\u00e9 par des forces occultes. Nick Santelli, flic et vampire, travaille sur l\u2019affaire.


Lucky Chance est une sorci\u00e8re en plein apprentissage. Pas vraiment dou\u00e9e, un peu livr\u00e9e \u00e0 elle-m\u00eame, elle bosse au mus\u00e9e d\u2019surnaturel de la ville. Changeforme, elle habite en collocation avec Mei-Li, une sorci\u00e8re comme elle. Maladroite, elle r\u00e9veille deux anges qui sont statufi\u00e9s depuis des milliers d\u2019ann\u00e9es, jetant ainsi le chaos sur la ville.

Nick Santelli est flic \u00e0 New York. Vampire, il est employ\u00e9 par le NYSDP. C\u2019est sa premi\u00e8re grosse affaire et il compte bien la r\u00e9soudre rapidement.

Je vais finir par arr\u00eater de dire que \u2018\u2019je n\u2019aime pas trop la fantasy\u2019\u2019 car tous les romans que je chronique dans ce genre en ce moment, me font mentir.

Je connais bien cette auteure, plut\u00f4t pour ses romances MM (qui me hantent encore aujourd\u2019hui) et j\u2019ai voulu tenter de la lire dans un autre registre.

Nous d\u00e9couvrons Lucky Chance, sorci\u00e8re new-yorkaise maladroite et peu s\u00fbre d\u2019elle. Elle bosse dans un mus\u00e9e r\u00e9serv\u00e9 aux surnat\u2019 et pr\u00e9pare sa th\u00e8se. J\u2019ai ador\u00e9 l\u2019environnement dans lequel Lucky \u00e9volue. C\u2019est immersif, c\u2019est travaill\u00e9 et \u00e7a te donne envie d\u2019aller au mus\u00e9e. L\u2019ambiance est studieuse, l\u2019auteure fait r\u00e9f\u00e9rence \u00e0 des parties de l\u2019Histoire int\u00e9ressantes et on sent qu\u2019un travail de recherche a \u00e9t\u00e9 effectu\u00e9, ce qui ajoute \u00e0 la cr\u00e9dibilit\u00e9 du roman.

L\u2019intrigue est originale et bien amen\u00e9e m\u00eame si j\u2019aurai aim\u00e9 un peu plus d\u2019intensit\u00e9 dans les faits. Ceci dit, l\u2019auteure pose les bases de cette s\u00e9rie et nous fait d\u00e9couvrir ses personnages, auxquels je me suis attach\u00e9e sans aucun probl\u00e8me. Lucky est pleine d\u2019humour et de maladresse, ce qui la rend touchante. Le c\u00f4t\u00e9 changeforme est par contre peu exploit\u00e9, et cela m\u2019a un peu manqu\u00e9. J\u2019en aurais voulu un peu plus. Cependant, il me semble cr\u00e9dible de l\u2019avoir construite peu s\u00fbre d\u2019elle et moins incisive que je ne l\u2019aurais voulu et je suis persuad\u00e9e qu\u2019elle prendra de l\u2019assurance au fil des tomes.
<\/p>

Nick Santelli s\u2019attache \u00e0 Lucky tr\u00e8s rapidement, pour mon plus grand bonheur. Je ne suis pas du tout adepte du slow-burn alors j\u2019ai ador\u00e9 le voir tomber amoureux mais surtout, \u00eatre entreprenant avec Lucky. J\u2019ai aussi appr\u00e9ci\u00e9 qu\u2019il sache fait la part des choses entre l\u2019enqu\u00eate et sa relation avec la jolie sorci\u00e8re.

Les personnages secondaires jouent leurs r\u00f4les \u00e0 la perfection. J\u2019ai aim\u00e9 Minerva, la tutrice de Lucky, bienveillante et assez maternelle avec son \u00e9tudiante. J\u2019ai grandement appr\u00e9ci\u00e9 les anges H\u00e9lios et Okeanos. Leur fa\u00e7on d\u2019\u00eatre, l\u2019histoire qui se cr\u00e9\u00e9e autour d\u2019eux, c\u2019\u00e9tait prenant et intense. M\u00eame l\u2019environnement magique est bien narr\u00e9 et immersif.

J\u2019ai donc pass\u00e9 un bon moment de lecture et maintenant que le socle de cette histoire est pos\u00e9, j\u2019ai h\u00e2te de d\u00e9couvrir les prochains opus. Un clin d\u2019\u0153il est fait \u00e0 Chastity Houston, s\u00e9rie \u00e9crite par l\u2019auteure, et les r\u00e9f\u00e9rences faites ne g\u00eanent absolument pas la lecture si on ne la conna\u00eet pas, ce qui est mon cas.
